How to connect to the Feinberg E-Collection
Note: We recommend you use Internet Explorer to access the Feinberg E-Collection.
This state-of-the-art, remote access collection of electronic resources is made possible through the generosity of Mr. Reuben Feinberg & The Joseph and Bessie Feinberg Foundation.

Feinberg E-collection
The Feinberg E-Collection contains the full-text to nearly 16,000 books and 25,000 articles in the area of Jewish studies.
All the databases in this collection are, with the exception of Hebrew Books and the JNUL Digitized Book Repository, for the exclusive use of Spertus Institute students, faculty and Spertus members. If you've forgotten your login or password, please email the library.
When you join Spertus online, during normal business hours Sunday through Wednesday, you will receive an email confirmation within 48 hours of joining. Memberships purchased at other times may take up to 96 hours (for example, requests sent on Thursday may be fulfilled on Sunday or Monday). Please check your spam or bulk mail folders if you do not see the confirmation in your inbox.
IMPORTANT: You must download the client before accessing any of the available resources. See column to the right titled "client downloads."

Encyclopedia Judaica
New Version
Version 2
This upgraded edition of the classic Jewish resource was released in December 2006. It incorporates three decades of changes and the latest scholarship. Included are more than 21,000 signed entries on Jewish life, culture, history, and religion, written by American, Israeli, and European subject specialists. Nearly half of the entries are updated and 2,600 are new. Also includes all yearbooks and decennials, and a rich media gallery of pictures, audio and video.
Bar Ilan Responsa
This database includes the full text of the Bible and its principal commentaries, the Babylonian Talmud with Rashi's commentary and Tosafot, the Jerusalem Talmud, the Mishneh Torah of Maimonides, Shulchan Aruch with commentaries, Midrashim, and hundreds of books of responsa.
PC users require an ActiveX plugin (for Internet Explorer) which you'll be prompted to download when you first use this new version. Download this help page (.pdf) for plug-in installation instructions. Mac support has been tested successfully using Firefox in the latest versions of OS X.

Volumes 26-44
Indexes more than 150 English-language periodicals of Jewish interest, covering the years 1988-2006. Includes a search engine that allows you to search by author, title, publication, date, keyword, etc.
Hebrew Books
The goal of Hebrew books is to provide (free) access to the digitized version of every Hebrew sefer ever published. The site currently provides access to more than 15,000 titles, which are searchable by author, title and keyword. Each sefer can be viewed online (in pdf format) or downloaded.
JNUL Digitized Book Repository
A project of the Jewish National and University Library to digitize rare and out-of-print monographs from it's collection. The initial selection of titles ranges from the 15th century incunabula to early 20th century works.
