Spertus Faculty

Peter Haas

Peter Haas is Abba Hillel Silver Professor of Jewish Studies and Director of the Samuel Rosenthal Center for Judaic Studies at Case Western Reserve University. He received his rabbinic ordination from Hebrew Union College and his PhD from Brown University. Professor Haas taught for many years at Vanderbilt University. He has given courses in Judaism, Jewish ethics, the Holocaust and Western religion, and has published several books and articles dealing with moral discourse and rabbinic literature including Responsa: Literary History of a Rabbinic Genre.
