The MSNM Program admits four cohorts over the course of the academic year, each consisting of 15-20 students.
History of the Program
Since its inception in 1982, more than a thousand men and women of diverse backgrounds have received the Master of Science degree. Spertus graduates have improved the managerial effectiveness of many Chicago-area nonprofit and governmental organizations. Sixty-seven percent of alumni report that they received a promotion within a year of graduation.
The Master of Science in Nonprofit Management (MSNM) program was initiated to further Spertus College's commitment to the community and continues to exemplify that commitment today.

Program Overview
The Master of Science in Nonprofit Management (MSNM) offers comprehensive core content that address all aspects of nonprofit management, supplemented by either four additional courses in one of two concentration areas or an independent project that is planned and developed by the student with the help of an academic advisor. All students have an opportunity to learn grant writing through the selection of either completion option. Core courses are offered as part of a cohort one evening per week, from 6:15 to 9:15pm.
The Concentration Areas are:
- Fundraising Management
- Human Services Administration
The options for an Independent Project are:
- Literature Review and Analysis
- Organizational Study
- Grant Proposal
Program characteristics:
- Completion time: 24-27 months
- Enrollment: 60-90 students admitted per year
- Financial Aid: Subsidized and Unsubsidized Federal loans
