Spertus Faculty
Aurie Pennick
Ms. Pennick, Executive Director of the Field Foundation of Illinois, has more than thirty-five years in the public and nonprofit sector. She has served as the President and CEO of the Leadership Council for Metropolitan Open Communities, the nation's oldest fair housing organization. She also served as the Managing Attorney Administrator for the Chicago Transit Authority, Legal Services Branch. Prior to that, Ms. Pennick was the Assistant Director for Special Grants, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, where she designed and implemented the Fund for Neighborhood Initiatives, a multi-million dollar grant program for small and emerging community organizations.
Over the years, Ms. Pennick was appointed by the late Mayor Harold Washington to the Chicago Police Board in 1983; awarded the John Marshall Law School Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award, 1995; and appointed by then HUD Secretary, Henry Cisneros to the Official U.S. Delegation for the Habitat II Global Conference on Cities in Istanbul, Turkey in 1996.
