Spertus Faculty

Kate Pravera

Dr. Pravera is the President of Pravera and Associates, a consultation firm that provides organizational assessment and capacity-building strategic planning for nonprofit organizations. She is the former Executive Director of Child and Adolescent Bipolar Foundation. Dr. Pravera served as Senior Fellow and Director of Professional Education at the College of Urban Planning and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). As founding Director, she launched the UIC Online Certificate in Nonprofit Management program and developed online courses in 12 fields of study.

Dr. Pravera holds a Doctor of Philosophy from Northwestern University, a Master of Theological Studies from Garret Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature from Ohio State. She has served on numerous boards, including the Community Economic Development Law Project, Citywide Development Corporation and the National Association of Community Development law Funds.

Dr. Pravera is the author of The Peaceable Kitchen: Cooking for Personal & Global Well Being (New York, Paulist Press, 1981).
