Todros Geller was known as the “dean” of Chicago’s Jewish artists. Geller was a key organizer of the Jewish artists group Around the Palette (today the American Jewish Artists Club) and hosted popular Friday night gatherings in his studio. He was a life-long educator at such places as the Jewish People’s Institute (a community center located in the heavily Jewish west side of Chicago).
