Clowns are the only regular humans in a circus arena otherwise filled with skillful supermen and superwomen. They are the only ones there who remind us that the circus actors are no better than the spectators. They are all funny losers. And all deserve kindness and mercy—including the inept dwarf and the misbehaving doggy.
