Modern Jewish literature first emerged as part of a radical rejection of traditional Jewish life in the 19th century. As in A Day of Small Beginnings, however, contemporary Jewish literature has maintained a deep interest in Jewish history, texts, and language. Dr. Todd Hasak-Lowy, an adjunct member of the Spertus faculty, explored this tension in American Jewish writing today.
