Celebration of Jewish Professional Life

Celebration of Jewish Professional Life

Tuesday, November 29, 2011 5:30 pm

In honor of Jewish professionals, Spertus hosted a special annual event—an evening of inspired conversation, fellowship, and networking. Over light refreshments, Jewish communal leaders and professionals from around Chicago met with each other, as well Spertus mentors and faculty. We welcomed a new cohort of colleagues into the Master of Arts in Jewish Professional Studies (MAJPS) program and toasted current and graduating students from Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Canada.

We also heard from one of the leading voices of Jewish leadership,
Dr. Hal M. Lewis
, President of Spertus, who provided a brief address on some of the challenges current philanthropic trends raise for Jewish organizations and foundations. Dr. Lewis’ remarks were intended to spark ongoing reflection and conversation, which we hope you will continue with colleagues at the celebration, at the work place, and in other forums.

Hal M. LewisDr. Hal M. Lewis is a recognized authority on leadership, particularly of Jewish organizations. He has published widely on the subject in both the popular press and scholarly journals. He is the author of Models and Meanings in the History of Jewish Leadership and From Sanctuary to Boardroom: A Jewish Approach to Leadership.

The Celebration of Jewish Professional Life

This central event on the local Jewish communal calendar reflects Spertus’ long-standing and deep commitment to Jewish professional training and Jewish communal life in Chicago and beyond. We hope you will be able to join us for this and other special events during the year.
