Making Trouble
Three Generations of Funny Jewish Women
A delightful documentary featuring Judy Gold,
Jackie Hoffman, Cory Kahaney, and Jessica Kirson
Produced by the Jewish Women’s Archive and directed by Rachel Talbot
Sitting around a table at the legendary Katz’s deli in New York, four of today’s funniest Jewish women discussed what it meant to be Jewish, female, and funny. Through archival footage and interviews, this clever documentary, skillfully produced by the Jewish Women’s Archive, pays tribute to the groundbreaking women—Molly Picon, Fanny Brice, Sophie Tucker, Joan Rivers, Gilda Radner, and Wendy Wasserstein—whose comedy defied cultural norms and made people all over the world laugh.
A post-show discussion was led by Dr. Ellen LeVee, a Spertus faculty member.
