The wonderful members of the Words and Music radio show — vocalist Spider Saloff, pianist Jeremy Kahn, and moderator Bill Sheldon — return to the Spertus stage for another live performance devoted to Jewish American songwriters.
This presentation focuses on the seminal influence of the New York Yiddish Theater. Hear the swing style of legendary cantor Moyshe Oysher, and learn how Jewish music influenced Broadway, Hollywood, and the Great American Songbook. Classics will be presented in a uniquely contemporary form, in a celebration of the wondrous fusion of Jewish culture and American popular music.
