Jeffrey Gurock explores the dynamics of the 20th-century immigrant experience through the metaphor of Judaism's encounter with American sports. Backed by exceptional research, he uses sports as a lens to reveal fresh perspectives on the contemporary state of American Jewish life.

Jeffrey S. Gurock is the Libby M. Klaperman Professor of Jewish History at Yeshiva University (where he has also served for over 25 years as the assistant men's basketball coach). He is a former chair of the Academic Council of the American Jewish Historical Society and an award-winning author. His latest book is Judaism's Encounter with American Sports.
