How did Jewish children in Europe live before the devastation of World War II? What were their hopes and dreams? What were their fears as they encountered an uncertain future? How much did these children know of what was to come, and how did they face the increasing anti-Semitism of their day? The answers to these questions were left behind in journals and diaries. Author and scholar Sean Martin shares the creative works of these children, works that document diverse pre-war communities and allow us to better appreciate the complex Jewish world that was destroyed.
