In Their Own Image

In this interactive, multimedia presentation, Ted Merwin explored the symbolic use of clothing in the work of such diverse performers as Fanny Brice, Eddie Cantor, Jerry Seinfeld, and Larry David.

Following his lecture, Merwin signed copies of his critically acclaimed book, In Their Own Image: New York Jews in Jazz Age Popular Culture.

This was the 2008 Norman Asher Memorial Lecture.

In Their Own Image: New York Jews in Jazz Age Popular Culture is available for purchase in the Spertus Shop on-site and on-line.
