James E. Young is professor of English and Judaic Studies at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and author of the groundbreaking The Texture of Memory, winner of the National Jewish Book Award. Dr. Young advises city agencies worldwide on memorials and museums. His articles have appeared in publications including The New York Times Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, and Slate.
