Bio

Rabbi Bob Kaplan is the the Founder and Executive Director of the Center for a Shared Society, a division of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York (JCRC).

Rabbi Kaplan is involved in a variety of issues including coalition building, leadership development, conflict resolution, cultural competency, interracial/inter-religious relationships, combating hate crimes, and community building. He acts as an organizational consultant to community-based organizations, both Jewish and non-Jewish, on the issue of inter-group relations and capacity building. He has been called upon by the Foreign Ministries of the United Kingdom, Israel, and Jamaica as well as the United States Department of State to consult on inter-ethnic community building and conflict resolution.

Rabbi Kaplan was a Clergy Grief Counselor at Ground Zero and serves as a Clergy Liaison to the NYPD’s Community Affairs Bureau.
