The purpose of the Events Intern position is to ensure that New Futuro executes on its events strategy by assisting with the management of all event logistics. The Events Intern will contribute to the logistics and execution of all the event elements necessary to effectively produce events that fulfill member, client and company goals and expectations. Reporting to the Events Manager, the Events Intern will be the key point person to assist with event research and pre/post event production. Located in Chicago, Illinois, this position provides a unique and excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated individual to gain experience with all aspects of the events department in order to help drive awareness, membership, and revenue goals.


  • Responsible for assisting with planning and organizing on-site details of event and conference programs including but not limited to A/V, room sets, F&B, signage, utilities.
  • Provide customer service and support, when needed.
  • Responsible for research related to event venues, rental equipment, F&B, etc.
  • Coordinating pre/post-event logistics and operations 
  • Tracking and managing data before, during, and post events; other general office duties
  • Consistently use social media platforms to promote New Futuro.
  • Assisting with community outreach projects when necessary- New Futuro events such as workshops in local schools, representing New Futuro at various educational related events in the community
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.


  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leader in school and surrounding community activities.
  • Demonstrated Latino cultural understanding and competency.
  • Active in using social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, WordPress, etc.)
  • Demonstrated interest in Marketing, Event Management or related field of study.
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative, hands-on environment.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is a strong plus.
