Bio

Dr. Gary Porton is the Sarah and Charles Drobny Professor Emeritus of Talmudic Studies and Judaism at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he has taught courses on the history of Judaism, religious responses to the Holocaust, American Judaism, Judaism in late antiquity, Jewish customs and ceremonies, and Jewish sacred literature. He is widely published with most of his publications focused on Judaism in Late Antiquity.
