Mentoring & Coaching
At Spertus Institute, mentoring and coaching are personalized experiences integrated directly into students’ programs.
Students are individually matched with their mentor or coach based on their goals. The experience helps students identify strengths and challenges and apply what they learn to their own real-life circumstances.
Mentoring
Mentoring has been a cornerstone of Spertus Institute’s MA in Jewish Professional Studies program for more than a decade. The program provides students the opportunity to work with seasoned leaders who share a deep commitment to the Jewish communal field. At the program’s core are the ideals of reflection and shared exploration.
For MA in Jewish Professional Studies students, the mentoring process occurs during the second year of the program. It helps students take what they learn in the classroom and put it into practice in the field, integrating theory and application, a foundational value at Spertus.

It was so very helpful to have someone in my field to speak with. My mentor gave great advice, helped me navigate situations at work, and was my biggest cheerleader.

Professional Coaching
Spertus Institute offers professional coaching as an integrated part of our Executive MA in Jewish Professional Studies, Certificate in Jewish Leadership, and Leadership Certificate in Combating Antisemitism. For many students, this is their first experience working with a professional coach. With their coach, students build upon their skills, reflect on their goals, and grow their understanding of themselves as leaders.
