Fundraisers Forum: Building Donor Connections Through Multimedia

At this workshop-style event, participants discovered expert approaches to message and medium, explored the impact of visuals, and viewed an Emmy Award-winning video from one of our presenters. Then practiced crafting their organization’s own story.

PRESENTERSDana Michelle Cook is an Emmy and Gracie award-winning filmmaker/producer who has worked on shows including Dancing with the Stars and Design on a Dime. She has produced original content for NBC, Bravo, The Food Network, TLC, and Biography. As co-founder of Freeheart Creative, she works on issues that bring about social change.
Lis Martin is a the owner of Statement Communications. A writer and content strategist with more than a decade of experience, including stints as a copywriter and journalist, she is known for big-picture thinking, passionate presenting, and on-the-ground execution.
Katie Wilkes spent eight years deploying to disaster sites as a national relief agency spokesperson. She brought stories to life on The Weather Channel and MSNBC, responding to floods, hurricanes, wildfires, and epidemics. With Dana Michelle Cook, she is co-founder of Freeheart Creative.
MODERATOREllen Spira Hattenbach is Spertus Institute’s VP for External Relations. A master connector and communicator, she has worked in strategic planning, client relations, and brand management, building links between the business and nonprofit sectors.
