Bio

Dr. Laura Yares is a scholar of American Judaism. Her research focuses on Jewish education.

Dr. Yares is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Michigan State University and is affiliated with the Department of History and the Center for Interdisciplinarity . She has published numerous pieces, both peer-reviewed and public scholarship, and has been invited to speak as a lecturer and at community events.

With Sharon Avni (CUNY), she is currently at work on a contemporary ethnographic project exploring Jewish learning in cultural arts settings, supported by the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Studies in Jewish Education at Brandeis University.
