Bio

Dr. David N. Gottlieb, Spertus Institute’s former Director of Jewish Studies, teaches about Jewish identity and Jewish memory. He has taught at The University of Chicago and Claremont Lincoln University, where he helped develop the curriculum for the Masters in Interfaith Action concentration. He currently teaches Jewish mindfulness practice for Orot, the Center for New Jewish Learning.

Dr. Gottlieb has written extensively for both academic and general-interest publications, including Journal of Religion, Toronto Journal of Jewish Thought, Shofar, and Tablet, among others. He served as founding executive director of Full Circle Communities, Inc., a nonprofit philanthropic developer of affordable housing and provider of social and supportive services to its residents.
