Safety and Security
As part of our compliance with regulations mandated for institutions that participate in the Title IV Federal Student Loan Program, Spertus Institute makes a number of policies, reports, and related resources available to our students, faculty, and employees.
These include emergency and evacuation procedures, the reporting of crimes and crime statistics, and policies related to sexual harassment, assault, and drug and alcohol abuse. This material is collected in the Annual Security Report, which is sent to students, faculty, and employees and at the end of each year, it is be posted here and on the Transparency page of the Spertus Institute website.
In addition, we have provided links to other websites that provide important information and prevention tips.

Housing Assistance
The Illinois Public Act 102-0083 requires all institutions of higher education to designate a staff member as the Housing and Opportunities that are Useful for Students’ Excellence (HOUSE) liaison to assist students who are experiencing homelessness. At Spertus Institute, the HOUSE Liaison is Brooke Herszage, Director of Academic Administration.
Students experiencing housing insecurity or students who know of a peer who needs help with housing may contact Brooke Herszage and the Academic Team at academics@spertus.edu or by calling 312.322.1739.
The Spertus campus does not offer housing, so students across the U.S. and beyond may wish to seek guidance from their local governments and other resources in their area.
For local students, City of Chicago Housing Resources links people with disabilities to affordable and accessible housing units and information on housing programs and resources, and advocates for accessible housing for people with disabilities in the city of Chicago. The City’s Affordable Chicago website also offers resources related to housing.
